-     Examine biological specimens employing stereomicroscope and image analysis software to document     structures and patterns -    Estimate or determine the age of Alaskan groundfish using otoliths and other hard structures using standard methods and procedures documented in Ageing Manual -    Organize and enter data routinely generated from reading otoliths into ageing data base and resolve discrepancies in age estimates with Team Leader -    Process biological samples such as fish otoliths in the laboratory by embedding, sectioning, polishing and prepartion of slides for the purpose of age determination and/or employing sample collection for microchemical studies -    Conduct sampling of otoliths using computer-aided micro-milling machine and assist other investigators in       otolith microchemical analysis -    Publish results from research projects in AFSC publications and peer-reviewed journals and communicate research results in seminars and scientific meeting presentations (oral and posters) Job Requirements -     You must be a U.S. citizen or national. -     Males born after 12/31/59 must be registered for selective service. -     Resume and supporting documents (See How To Apply section). -     Required to pass background investigation and fingerprint check -     A one-year probationary/trial period may be required. -     Valid State Drivers License - See more at: http://www.worldfishing.net/latest-jobs/premium-jobs/fish-biologist2#sthash.8uYuDY1W.dpuf
