Provides leadership, consultation and guidance regarding maintenance expenditure projects, cost efficiencies, process development, modification, capital projects and facility maintenance. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Manages maintenance department and staff by assigning maintenance projects or providing maintenance functions, for the facility, and responding to issues in the department to meet production requirements. Includes maintenance of building utility systems, equipment, and building. Ensures that maintenance department objectives and timelines are met including project, cost quality and safety factors. Troubleshoots malfunctioning equipment and prioritizes repairs and delegates assignments accordingly. Plans and implements equipment rebuilds and maintenance, coordinating with plant management. Works on a project team with appropriate management, contractors and vendors to make capital improvements or install new equipment or manufacturing lines. Remains abreast of changes and trends in the market, and technology changes that impact the maintenance industry. Adheres to budgetary constraints, including procuring material at the most cost effective rate. Meets with contractors and vendors to negotiate best rate. Works with Human Resources to resolve employee issues on hiring, attendance, tardiness, and disciplinary issues. Trains, disciplines, and evaluates employees. Provides development for, and gives direction to maintenance employees, to achieve established company and individual goals. Manages and supports processes through flex scheduling and weekend work schedules Performs other related work as assigned · · KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Knowledge of facilities and equipment maintenance, repair purchasing, OSHA and IOSHA safety regulations, HACCP regulations, PSM, SPCC, HazMat, Lockout/Tagout, and USDA standards. Experience in food manufacturing processes, preferably in the poultry industry, is extremely helpful. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and proficiencies in the areas of refrigeration, building systems, electricity, welding, and equipment repair. Knowledge and experience in Ammonia Refrigeration, Process Safety Management (PSM), and Boiler Operations. Auto CAD experience preferred. Ability to read blueprints and schematics; and working knowledge of basic mathematics Demonstrated abilities in managing people Ability to evaluate and prioritize departmental needs Ability to effectively communicate with a variety of individuals and situations, and resolve conflicts as needed Working knowledge of computers, including, but not limited to, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases PHYICAL REQUIREMENT · Ability to lift up to 100 pounds. · Ability to grip/grasp use production equipment, tools or any item needed in maintenance jobs. · Ability to stand/walk or sit the duration of the shift. · Ability to twist, bend at the waist, reach above shoulder level WORK ENVIRONMENT: · Must be able to perform duties in required areas. · Work in cold or warm temperatures · Work in areas with constant noise, and work around mechanical, electrical and safety hazards · Must be able to work with and around various mechanical equipment with moving or rotating parts to include saw blades as well as hand knives.
